How to dress for Fall 2012 in a tropical country
We are blessed (or cursed, depending how you look at things) with brilliant sunshine all year round. However, we still follow overseas’ trends closely as fashion changes every quarter to welcome the new season. Since it’s fall now, but it is not like we can walk around in fur coats and trench coats, here are some ways to adapt the fall trend into our wardrobe in sunny Malaysia.
1. Loose slouchy sweaters
To avoid looking like you just stepped off a plane from Europe, and also simmering in our very hot country, make sure your sweaters are breathable, meshy, and not too thick, or pair it with shorts for a nice contrast.

2. Rich fabric textures
Fall winter always sees a lot of rich textures on clothing such as fur, wool, tweed, and leather. You can easily incorporate this element into your “summery clothing”. A leather jacket might be too hot, but leather shorts with an easy breezy shirt can make you fit into the fall trend perfectly. Here, the model is wearing a pair of thick lace shorts, and at the bottom, a pair of woolen weaved shorts.
3. Thick cotton / crepe tailored dresses
These dresses are made to withstand the cold, and funnily enough they are really great for our weather too! We have Roland Mouret, Victoria Beckham and the likes of Kate Middleton to thank for these lovely structured dresses
4. Fall colour palette
When it’s fall, think about rich dark hues, luxurious purples, and decadent velvety maroon. Even though you might be dressed in shorts and a simple tee, it’s easy to follow autumn trends by keeping in accordance to the fall colour palette. Here are some awesome inspiring sets that we spotted in Polyvore ^.^

5. Tights tights!
Nothing screams fall better than tights ! There are loads of sheer tights in the market that we can easily incorporate into our fall wardrobe. You can even be more creative and wear colourful tights, or those with designs on them!
6. Lightweight, cotton scarves
Sure we can’t possibly potter around town wearing a fur or woolen scarf, but a simple printed cotton scarf is fantastic too with a simple jeans and tee shirt.
We hope you are as inspired as us for fall
