Blogshop tip: Know your trends
Perhaps the most important thing for a blogshop owner to know, is the very basic rule of knowing what sells. And perhaps the most difficult thing is to differentiate between stocking what you want to see yourself wearing vs stocking what your shoppers want to wear.
Today’s post is just a basic trend watch for the month of November and December.
There is always a trend that follows through and lasts for a few months. Catching the early wave of these trends would probably ensure a healthy income for your blog and a steady stream of traffic. How do you know? Go out more often, read more magazines, visit high street labels, and fashion blogs.
This is just a steady snap shot of what has been trendy recently, perhaps to give the drained out blogshop owner a few ideas of what to look out for on her next stocking trip.
The skater dress
This dress has taken over the world by storm and is seen everywhere now in the high street stores. Be particular about the fit when you go on your stocking trip. It definitely should not be baggy on the top, it should be structured and fitting from the waist up, and flares out from the waist down.
The Palazzo Pants
These pants are loosed, relaxed and billowy. Try to photograph them with more structured tops to give more silhouette.
The patched elbow
This quirky little trend is in perfect sync with the colder season elsewhere around the world. Patched elbow blazers and sweaters will definitely fly off the shelves. We’ve not seen it in many blogshops in the region so it would be a good time to bring it in to be a step ahead of the competition!
Victoria Beckham-esque clothes
Roland Mouret might have kicked it off but there’s no denying why Victoria Beckham is on the lips of all fashionistas these few seasons. Her dresses cling to every curve of the body, beautifully structured and perfect for the evening and that sophisticated night out. These clothes are definitely all the rage now and it’s a good idea to start stocking those dresses guys!
